About the producer:

This Geisha coffee is grown by Cayetano Fernandez on his farm in Miguel Grau, in Peru’s Chanchamayo region and his approach to coffee growing is highly precise. He carefully plans the spacing between coffee trees, distributes shade trees evenly, and pays close attention to crop management and fertilisation. Harvesting is also highly selective - ripeness is judged not only by cherry colour, but also by measuring sugar content with a refractometer.
After the coffee leaf rust crisis that severely affected many growers across Latin America, Cayetano made a risky decision: instead of replanting with conventional varieties, he chose higher-value coffee varieties. Geisha required greater investment and came with no guarantee of quick results, but over time the decision proved worthwhile. Today, his farm stands as an example of how exceptional quality can become the basis for more sustainable coffee production.
Geisha is one of the most prestigious Arabica varieties in the world. It is known for its remarkable clarity, complex aromatics, floral character and pronounced sweetness. In this coffee, you can expect notes of lime and apricot, intense florals with a distinct jasmine character, a velvety texture and a long, sweet finish.

Name Pachamama comes from the Quechua language: pacha means earth / world / space-time, while mama means mother. It is usually translated as Mother Earth, although in the Andean worldview its meaning is broader than simply “earth” - it encompasses nature, fertility, the cycle of life, and the connection between people and the world around them.
Our partners CTS (coffee importers) uses Pachamama name for its Peruvian coffee project. The project works with smallholder farmers around the village of Miguel Grau in Peru, supporting them in improving quality, organic farming practices, sustainability, and direct trade.

About the region: Chanchamayo, Junín

Chanchamayo is located in central Peru, in the Junín region, where the slopes of the Andes descend into Peru’s tropical central jungle. It is one of the country’s most important coffee-growing areas, with farms spread across different elevations and microclimates.
Higher elevation means cooler nights and slower cherry maturation. This gives the fruit more time to accumulate sugars and develop greater flavour complexity, which is especially important for a variety like Geisha. Coffee production in Chanchamayo is closely tied to family farms and manual labour. Steep terrain, selective picking and relatively low yields per tree make high-quality coffee production both demanding and time-consuming. It is precisely this combination of environment, careful work and the Geisha variety that makes this coffee so rare and distinctive.
